Dr Vasileios Balis is a Biologist, graduate of Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, U.K. He holds a postgraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences, Cell Pathology (PgDip, in Biomedical Sciences, Cellular Pathology) University of Bradford, U.K. and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Crete, Greece. He has more than 16 years of research and teaching experience in biology, molecular biology, medicine, biomedicine, virology, anti-cancer and stem cell research. He participated as a researcher and a lecturer in the laboratories of the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Biomedical applications in Greece (AUTH & University of Crete) with corresponding publications in international peer reviewed journals and conferences. He has also been a shareholder and manager of a medical diagnostics company and a certified scientist in the Organization of the Research of Pharmaceutical and Parapharmaceutical Products. He has also conducted research at the University of California Los Angeles, School of Medicine, USA and for the Cancer Research institute of the U.K. He is currently engaged in research on therapeutic applications of stem cells. He is also a member of the Panhellenic Association of Bioscientists (P.E.B.), the Hellenic Society of Biological Sciences (E.E.B.E.), the Hellenic Society for the Study of Regenerative Medicine (E.E.M.A.I.) and the Royal Society of Biology, (R.S.B.). He is a business consultant with many years of experience in the field of international education, in collaboration with British universities, as a programme manager and lecturer in the departments of health sciences such as Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Podiatry, Psychology, Medicine and Medical Genetics and Genomics. He is also in charge of a Biomedical Science Laboratory and a director of a laboratory for research and development at a private stem cell storage bank. In addition to his international research and academic experience, posses special potential for extroversion, as well as interconnection abilities of the public and private sector in the field of Health services and research in Life Sciences.
